Three developers you can name, one plugin done properly

A little about Darkify: it is built by ThemeAtelier, a small product team in Bangladesh that has been making WordPress plugins since 2016. We are not a faceless company. Every person below has a public WordPress.org profile, and you can check their work before you trust ours.

It started with a dark mode that kept breaking things

ThemeAtelier began in 2016 the way many WordPress companies do: one developer, a long list of client sites, and the same small problems turning up on every one of them. Rather than solve those problems again for each client, we started turning the fixes into plugins and publishing them for free on WordPress.org.

Dark mode was one of those problems. The options available mostly inverted a site’s colours and called it done. Invert a page and your brand red becomes a sickly cyan, product photos go strange, logos disappear, and a carefully designed pricing table stops making sense. Visitors switch that kind of dark mode on once, wince, and switch it off.

So we set out to build one that reads the colours a site already renders, generates a dark palette from them with contrast preserved, and gives the site owner precise control over the handful of things that always need special treatment. That turned out to be a far bigger piece of engineering than “invert everything” — which is roughly why, several years later, we are still refining it.

In 2026, we rebuilt Darkify’s entire admin panel from scratch in React, with a live preview of your real site beside every setting. It is the biggest change the plugin has had, and it came almost entirely from what users told us was hard about the old one.

How we got here

Our mission

Give every WordPress site a dark mode that people actually keep switched on — readable, on-brand, and set up in minutes by someone who has never written a line of CSS.

Our vision

A web where dark mode is simply expected, the way responsive design is today, and where offering it never means a site owner has to trade away their design to get it.

Our philosophy

Solve one problem properly rather than many problems partly. Handle the edge cases. Tell people plainly what the plugin cannot do. And never make a small feature feel complicated.

About Darkify’s team: the people who write the code

When you open a support ticket, it reaches one of these three people — not an outsourced desk reading from a script. Each profile is public on WordPress.org.

Foysal

Foysal Imran

Founder & lead plugin developer

On WordPress.org since 2013 and building plugins at ThemeAtelier since 2016. Author of all 18 of our free plugins, a translation contributor across 14 languages, and a regular at WordCamps in Bangladesh and Nepal.

Shakib

Sakhawat Hossain

WordPress engineer

Works across PHP, JavaScript, and React, which is exactly the mix Darkify’s new admin panel is built on. A committer on Darkify and on the rest of the ThemeAtelier plugin family, and active in the support forums.

TamimAziz

Abdul Aziz

Web developer

The newest member of the team, and a committer on Darkify and six other ThemeAtelier plugins. Much of the day-to-day work of turning bug reports into shipped fixes lands on his desk.

Mission, vision and how we work

  • 2013 — Our founder joins the WordPress.org community.
  • 2016 — ThemeAtelier starts publishing free plugins for the problems we kept solving for clients.
  • 2023 — The team grows, and we start attending WordCamps every year.
  • 2025 — A third developer joins, focused on turning reports into fixes faster.
  • 2026 — Darkify’s admin panel is rebuilt from scratch in React, with a live preview beside every setting.

We give back to the platform we build on

All 18 of our plugins have a genuinely useful free version on WordPress.org, including Darkify. Nobody has to pay to get a working dark mode, and nothing in the free version is a crippled demo designed to force an upgrade.

Beyond our own code, our founder contributes translations across 14 languages, belongs to seven WordPress.org contributor teams, and attends WordCamps across Bangladesh and Nepal. Pro exists to fund that work — not to replace it.
